Play Learning

It's official!  We have started the school year.  Mostly our days are filled with laughter, some learning through play, and some learning through intentional activities. So by way of recap, here was the month of September and what we learned. Aug 24-Aug 28 was the Letter G, the Garden of Eden and the 7 days of creation. We memorized Gen 1:31. Our activity wa making a contact paper creation book, using cotton ball clouds, fresh grass and leaves, and animal stickers. We had a fantastic, fun morning watching Itty Bitty participate along with us.  The end of the week was about learning about gardens and seeds and how plants grow. So we set about planting our own seeds!     Week 3 (Aug 31-Sept 4) brought the planning of the month of September, the letter A for Apples, learning all about Apples. We tasted…

The Days are Flying By

Gosh every day.  Flies by.  So very, very fast.  Of course, not the actual minutes, hours, but the time.  I just can't keep up.  The days are just flying by. I want to document all these sweet moments as they are happening in real time. I am going to have to give myself grace and realize better late than never! Case in point.  We have started school.  Way back on August 17th.  Not only did I not make one of those cute signs that everyone else had floating around social media, I'm just now posting the pictures. While I enjoy being crafty, I just cannot get my act together to do something that organized, so this make-shift sign will have to do! :) Oh and heaven forbid Itty Bitty not be included in what big brother is doing, the tantrums are…

Moments

I am definitely living in the moments.  Most days I'm just trying to keep my clan alive, which is harder than it sounds actually.  But moments.  The moments that make me laugh from deep inside because oh-my-stars the things littles say and do; to the moments I want to tear my hair out of my head and need to put myself in time-out because oh-my-stars the things littles say and do. :) Case in point. One moment these kids are having the greatest day of their life enjoying rides at a kiddie park. So much joy, so much laughter. But moments later when I needed her to sit on the other side of the stroller so I could put the baby where she had chosen to sit. Complete attitude.  This girl already knows how to dish it out at two. I…

My Favorite Outdoor Annoyance Spray

As I jumped into the world of essential oils, one of the first things I learned was that whatever is put on your skin (shampoo, lip gloss, lotion, bug spray, etc.) is absorbed by your very porous skin and absorbed in to your bloodstream within seconds. One thing I started looking into was some of the outdoor annoyance sprays that were premade. As I started reading through some of the various ingredients I was really concerned. So..... this summer I was NOT going to put that stuff on my babies! I wanted something completely natural, safe, and effective for my family. Using just these two essential oils (Purification and Peppermint), a little epsom salt and a 2oz glass bottle I made my own outdoor annoyance spray.   So let's first talk about natural - if you are new to essential oils,…

A Trip to Mayo Clinic

Mayo Clinic. I could write a novel about this place.  The emotions, the medical care, the effect on my family, and the weather.  As you can see below, we went during a crazy time of snow storms and winter weather! Although, I have been managing my pain with essential oils, we were still seeing symptoms and wanted to make sure that the local doctors were not missing a "zebra disease" (a rare, unusual disease that a local doc might not be familiar with or have seen any cases of yet).  So, we packed up our family (2 under 2.5) and headed to the opposite end of the country.  The boys went on a road trip, to drive up the many things it takes to travel with babies, while the girls flew (see picture below).  As I started to write, I wanted…

Deep Relief {Post # 5 – Using Essential Oils}

It's been a while since I posted, and much has been going on - including a trip to the Mayo Clinic (that will be another post for a different day). But, I have to tell you that this Deep Relief Roll-On has been saving my life.  Literally.About a year ago, I was in crazy, debilitating pain.  I was weeks away from birthing my second baby, and was on self-imposed bed rest.  Walking was essentially an impossibility.  Fast forward post-birth, and my body continued to deteriorate all summer.  The pain was intense, unforgiving and required dramatic changes in my quality of life.  De-stressing and more sleep have been critical to having more success with my body. Then, this past fall I discovered Deep Relief.   Here's all the good stuff in it:   It is so easy to use.  Locate an area,…

Easy DIY Deodorant

Is your deodorant toxic? Do you have any idea how many crazy ingredients are hiding in your deodorant? So scary! To think I was put that on my body, and allowing it to be absorbed into my body. If you don't believe me, check out this link between antiperspirants and cancer which talks about aluminum in the antiperspirants. Equally scary, I came across this sheet regarding propylene glycol and reproduction toxicity. I also want my products to be phthalates-free, and while the powers that be claim that it is unknown how it is impacting health, check out this fairly well-documented article that indicates a link between breast cancer and phtalates. I don't know about you, but I don't want any of these ingredients in something as simple and basic and daily as my deodorant. If this is your deodorant, please know there is a safe, easy, affordable DIY Deodorant…

Valentine’s Day Must Haves

So, what do you do to add spice and fun to your love life?!?  Essential oils are amazing for maintaining a healthy balance of your hormones (both for men and for women!). They also promote a healthy libido, increase sexual arousal and support sexual performance, boost masculinity and inspire romance and female allure. Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to try out essential oils and experience the benefits they can bring to your relationship!  Below are  a few of my favorite items to make Valentine's Day a special day full of love and romance.  One fun way to use your essential oils is to make a DIY natural lubricant! 1 drops of Black Pepper essential oil (very warming), 1 drops of Peppermint essential oil (very cooling) and 2 drops of Sensation essential oil (for the oooooh la la effect) and mix in…

How to Use Essential Oils

Let's talk about how to use Essential Oils.  Essential Oils can be used in three primary ways. If you will remember from my previous post in this series, I am only talking about Young Living essential oils, which are 100% pure essential oils.  You cannot expect to get the quality or to get the same results if the essential oil is not Young Living.  Please do not use other brands of essential oils the same way you would use Young Living oils. Essential oils can be inhaled, applied topically or used in cooking, drinking, flavoring with the new Vitality Line. First, essential oils can be used via Direct Inhalation.  The human sense of smell is about ten thousand times more powerful than other senses.  When you inhale an essential oil its scent travels first through olfactory nerve cells inside the nose…
