Frankincense Essential Oil

Frankincense Essential Oil is one of my must have oils that I use every day!  For many years, I used to read the word Frankincense in the Bible and have no tangible understanding of what this was or why in the world someone would bring it as a gift to another, especially to baby Jesus.  "....And when they had opened their treasures they presented unto Him gifts; gold, and Frankincense and myrrh." (Matthew 2:10).. It's so amazing to read about Frankincense is extracted from the Boswellia tree and the tree must be 40 years old before even one drop of oil can be extracted.  In Biblical times 40 years was considered to be a generation.     This is such a versatile oil, I can see why historically it was more valuable then gold.  Here are just some of the ways…

Lemon Essential Oil

Nothing beats a cold lemonade on a hot, summer day.  I love the way lemons smell.  Since I've decided I am going to work through all of Young Living's products, I'm going to document it in this blog.  (See my first post in this series on Lavender here. Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is so very versatile.  This quickly has become our go to oil for almost all of our needs. Young Living's Lavender is extremely popular.  It is steam distilled from Lavandula angustifolia, a perennial, bushy shrub with a flowery top. Historically, Greeks used lavender as a perfume. The Romans used it in their baths for washing, for its cleansing qualities, and to deter insects. The Egyptians used lavender as an ingredient in incense and perfume. Queen Elizabeth I used it in her tea to soothe tension.
