April Rewards

Who loves free stuff?!  The coolest thing every month with Young Living is the ability to receive free products just for ordering my normal household stuff I was going to order anyway.  As a thank you for placing my order with them, Young Living sends me all kinds of FREE stuff every month.  The April Rewards this month are spectacular, especially if you have kiddos in your home, grandkiddos you love or special littles in your life that would benefit from some oily support. Owie is one of our more frequently used oils in this home.  It is used every single time my kiddos meet the pavement.  I love that it is prediluted. It is a blend of: Caprylic/capric glycerides, Abiesbalsamea (Idaho balsam fir) needle oil, Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea tree) leaf oil, Helichrysum italicum flower oil, Canarium luzonicum (Elemi) gum oil, Cistus ladaniferus (Cistus)…

My Favorite Outdoor Annoyance Spray

As I jumped into the world of essential oils, one of the first things I learned was that whatever is put on your skin (shampoo, lip gloss, lotion, bug spray, etc.) is absorbed by your very porous skin and absorbed in to your bloodstream within seconds. One thing I started looking into was some of the outdoor annoyance sprays that were premade. As I started reading through some of the various ingredients I was really concerned. So..... this summer I was NOT going to put that stuff on my babies! I wanted something completely natural, safe, and effective for my family. Using just these two essential oils (Purification and Peppermint), a little epsom salt and a 2oz glass bottle I made my own outdoor annoyance spray.   So let's first talk about natural - if you are new to essential oils,…

Easy DIY Deodorant

Is your deodorant toxic? Do you have any idea how many crazy ingredients are hiding in your deodorant? So scary! To think I was put that on my body, and allowing it to be absorbed into my body. If you don't believe me, check out this link between antiperspirants and cancer which talks about aluminum in the antiperspirants. Equally scary, I came across this sheet regarding propylene glycol and reproduction toxicity. I also want my products to be phthalates-free, and while the powers that be claim that it is unknown how it is impacting health, check out this fairly well-documented article that indicates a link between breast cancer and phtalates. I don't know about you, but I don't want any of these ingredients in something as simple and basic and daily as my deodorant. If this is your deodorant, please know there is a safe, easy, affordable DIY Deodorant…

Valentine’s Day Must Haves

So, what do you do to add spice and fun to your love life?!?  Essential oils are amazing for maintaining a healthy balance of your hormones (both for men and for women!). They also promote a healthy libido, increase sexual arousal and support sexual performance, boost masculinity and inspire romance and female allure. Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to try out essential oils and experience the benefits they can bring to your relationship!  Below are  a few of my favorite items to make Valentine's Day a special day full of love and romance.  One fun way to use your essential oils is to make a DIY natural lubricant! 1 drops of Black Pepper essential oil (very warming), 1 drops of Peppermint essential oil (very cooling) and 2 drops of Sensation essential oil (for the oooooh la la effect) and mix in…

Choosing an Essential Oil Company

There are so many companies that are marketing essential oils.  How did I go about choosing an essential oil company? In fact, over the years I have used essential oils from a variety of places without much success.  Now, I understand why. Most stores and companies actually sell adulterated oils. (An adulterated oil means that the essential oil is not pure, because it is mixed with synthetic oils and/or alcohol which destroys the therapeutic properties of the essential oil.)  Adulterated oils are created cheaply, which is why you can buy them for such a cheap price. (You pay for what you get! ;)) These oils, while they may smell good, generally have no therapeutic efficacy and can even be harmful. I choose to use Young Living essential oil, exclusively. Here are the the top reasons I love Young Living essential oils.…

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is so very versatile.  This quickly has become our go to oil for almost all of our needs. Young Living's Lavender is extremely popular.  It is steam distilled from Lavandula angustifolia, a perennial, bushy shrub with a flowery top. Historically, Greeks used lavender as a perfume. The Romans used it in their baths for washing, for its cleansing qualities, and to deter insects. The Egyptians used lavender as an ingredient in incense and perfume. Queen Elizabeth I used it in her tea to soothe tension. These are just a few of the many ways we are now using Lavender: Pillow Spray - My kiddos use this every night to support a great night's sleep.  You can put a few drops in a spray bottle with some water and spray on a pillow or in the room.  You can…

Confronting my Chronic Pain

The very first symptom I had on this crazy journey was chronic pain.  Many of my friends have struggled with chronic pain for years, and I have a new appreciation not just for the physical complications that accompany a life of pain, but the toll it can take on you spiritually and emotionally, as well.     For me, the emotional aspect has been a game changer. While it is hard for people you love to watch you in pain; it is just as humbling to have to ask for help. It changes who you are to know you just physically cannot do things you are used to do (managing your household, keeping up with kids, working your job), but it is also very discouraging to have to put your passions and hobbies on the back burner because your body just…
